Presidents Day

Our current sermon series is, “I Still Believe”, yesterday’s sermon was entitled, "I Still Believe in the Power of Prayer." There were three specific points we addressed, The Power of Being Humble in Prayer, The Power of Prayer is in our Heart, and the Power of a Hallelujah in Prayer. Today is Presidents’ Day and I would like to share some of what we talked about yesterday with you. (The complete sermon will be available for you in the next few days, just click on “Video Messages”.) Here is an excerpt from yesterday’s message.
“I preached that sermon about, “My Heart, Christ's Home” and it's about the rooms of your heart and about when Christ comes in He wants to be in charge of all your house. He wants to live in every room of your heart. This is where too many Christians get in trouble after they have been saved. Jesus is in their heart's home, but they have just given Him one little room.
They say, "Jesus, we're glad you've come to live in our heart, but we're going to just give you this one little room right over here.
•Do not get over here in the recreation room. You are not to be a part of my recreation.
•Do not get in the dining room, Jesus. That is where I feed on my desires. I don't want you interfering with my desires."
If we are not very careful, we will lock some doors of rooms in our hearts and though Christ may be in our hearts, He does not reign as Lord in our hearts. He is praying that Christ may dwell in your hearts. He is saying He wants Christ to be enthroned in your heart. HE WANTS JESUS TO NOT ONLY BE RESIDENT OF YOUR HEART BUT TO ALSO BE THE PRESIDENT OF YOUR HEART; THE LORD ON THE THRONE OF YOUR LIFE!
Many years ago, I read a book by S.D. Gordon. In that book, he used the following illustration. I have used this illustration many times since. He says, "In every heart there is a throne and a cross. If self is on the throne, Christ is on the cross. But if Christ is on the throne, then self is on the cross."
We want to enthrone Christ. We want Christ to be at home in our life and to have free reign in our hearts so that Christ may dwell in our hearts. How does He do that? By us simply trusting in the Lord. Every day in simple trust, we open up all the rooms of our hearts. Every day I pray a prayer kind of like this. I say,
“Dear Lord,
I give my eyes to you today to see for you.
I give my mind to you today to think for you.
I give my ears today to hear for you.
I give my lips to speak for you.
I give my hands to work for you.
I give my feet to walk for you.
I give my heart to love for you.
I give my total being to live for and serve you.”
Christ wants to be enthroned in your life. Ephesians 3:17 says, "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith." Have you opened up every room in your heart to the Lord? Are you willing to not only make Christ a resident in your heart, but President of your heart?
