God at Work

Have you been reading your 40 Day Journey through Prayer Journal? This one really spoke to me and I thought it was worth sharing it in the blog. This is for those that currently do not have a copy of our Prayer Journal.

May God bless you, have a wonderful Friday!

Philippians 2:13 “for it is God who is at work in you,
both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” (ESV)

Do you ever wonder what God is up to? I know I do. I am constantly wondering what God is doing, why He chose to do it this way, or why He hasn’t done this yet. We are constantly questioning God. Paul, while penning the letter to the Philippians, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said that it is God who is at work. He’s constantly at work in every minute detail of life. He’s working things out that He hasn’t let me in on. He’s not worried about what I think in His work. He isn’t concerned about checking with me on what He should do next or if I would like for this prayer to be answered before the other prayer. Those things don’t matter to God. He is the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all that is. I like to think that He is calling the shots with His feet up! There’s nothing that is happening or that will happen that He isn’t totally aware of. Our problem is that we want the answers before we receive the assignment. God doesn’t always give us the full plan. We must embrace His leading by faith.

Paul said for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. He is the One who is doing the work. Many times we believe that we have something to do with His work. You’re right. He’s using you as the vehicle to accomplish His work in the world. When we begin to embrace the calling of God on our lives as believers we begin to see life from God’s perspective. He begins to show us things that we don’t understand, things that don’t make sense, but in all actuality it’s totally up to Him to bring to fruition.

This building campaign has nothing to do with us. It has everything to do with Him. He’s the one calling the shots. Question, is He calling the shots in your life? Sometimes we need to be reminded that He’s the one at work. Philippians 1:5 says “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Scripture is clear that God is the one doing all the work. When we begin to see life from God’s perspective, we begin to realize that there is nothing outside His capabilities. He can do whatever He wants and make all things work according to His perfect plan. Looking at a massive building campaign we must realize that God will provide every resource needed to complete His work. God wants to use you! His plan is to allow us to be apart of the supernatural. We can build a building, but He is the one who will fill the building. Henry Blackaby says “God is at work all around us; find where He is working and join Him.” Allow this to be your invitation to join Him in His work at this church!
